Ethridge improved her skills as both an anchor and reporter during her five-year time in Augusta when she worked at the CBS/NBC affiliate station WRDW/WAGT. She initially started as a versatile journalist and quickly earned a promotion to become the First at Five Anchor. While working in Richmond County, she conducted field reporting from Augusta National during the Masters and covered Arnold Palmer’s final journey to the First Tee. In addition, she conducted an interview with Gary Player.

Her time in Augusta also highlighted the significance of accurate weather reporting, as she spent three nights on the floor of the Emergency Operations Center during an ice storm that paralyzed the city providing round-the-clock updates to viewers. She also had the opportunity to interview students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during the March for Our Lives event in Washington, D.C. Notably, she embarked on an extraordinary journey, joining a charter bus from Atlanta to Pasadena, California, to document a group’s historic trip in support of the University of Georgia Bulldogs at the Rose Bowl. Armed with only a headlamp, she managed to shoot and edit her stories while enduring a 37-hour bus ride—a true testament to her unwavering dedication as a Dawg fan!

Christie is an enthusiastic supporter of local professional, college, and high school sports, and she enjoys staying active through workouts during her free time. She played a vital role in the newscast that received the prestigious 2018 EMMY award for Best Morning Newscast. The award-winning coverage was a two-hour special dedicated to the impending Hurricane Michael in the Gulf of Mexico. During this critical period from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., Christie was the sole live reporter stationed in Panama City Beach. She provided minute-by-minute updates on live evacuation orders, sirens, and the rapidly rising waters caused by the unprecedented Category 5 hurricane that struck the Gulf.

Even in the face of perilous weather conditions, when broadcasting became too dangerous, she continued to deliver real-time information through live streaming from her phone and posted crucial updates on social media platforms. This unwavering commitment continued even as the roof of the hotel where she sought shelter began to tear apart. The previous year, she also found herself at the epicenter of another storm, serving as the sole live reporter to broadcast from Tybee Island during Hurricane Irma’s impact on the Georgia coast.
