Furthermore, for his remarkable series, “The Holocaust Remembered” in the year 1981, he received the Erich Sternberg Humanitarian Award. He was recognized as among the Outstanding Young Men of America in the year 1983 and was included in the prestigious Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities in the year 1976. Additionally, the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters also honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2009.
For his reporting work at WBRZ, he has embarked on numerous journeys around the globe to create compelling special documentaries and reports. In the year 1992, he had the privilege of being the sole Louisiana-based reporter chosen to cover Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm alongside an Army Reserve unit in Baton Rouge. His unwavering courage, support, and service to the unit led to him being recognized as an honorary member of the 321st MMC in August 1996.
Furthermore, Pastorek has undertaken special assignments to Africa, Yugoslavia, Medjugorje, and Central America, demonstrating his commitment to delivering impactful stories. In addition to his honors, Pastorek has earned recognition for his service in the community: being voted among Baton Rouge’s outstanding ‘Volunteer Activists’ for the year 2004.
